Of all the British newspapers, The Guardian stands head and shoulders above the rest for its coverage of Climate Change. Many newspapers are fully engaged with the Distraction Game: Oooh, look, Harry and Meghan, Kate, celebs, immigrants and the poor are ruining house prices, blah, blah, blah. Mainly because it doesn’t have to answer to a greedy billionaire, The Guardian gets on with warning of the danger, as any responsible body should.

So I thought I would highlight some of the excellent reporting that has appeared recently.

Brutal heatwaves and submerged cities: what a 3C world would look like

Keeping the temperature increase to 1.5 deg C above pre-industrial levels now looks hopeless. This article sets out the consequences of increasing temperatures. Basically, more wildfires, crop failures, floods and displaced people. the hotter it gets, the worse these problems become.

‘I am starting to panic about my child’s future’: climate scientists wary of starting families

Raising a family is a basic human desire, children born of love and creating a future. But even this basic aspect of being human is called into question by the threat of future turmoil. This article contains the responses of academic women who have struggled with their choices about children.
